To achieve peace of mind, first you need to see the bigger picture…
Most of us in our everyday lives, struggle to have peace of mind. Life has become a constant struggle because we cannot see the bigger picture and understand the cosmic intelligence it contains. Because we tend to believe, the only way to a peaceful existence is to be in control of life’s circumstances. We cannot come to terms with reality so we try to bend it to our will in pursuit of happiness. Eventually we realise that it is not possible to do so. And we end up in a Cul-de-sac, where a painful and purposeless existence is awaiting us.
Such beliefs are the product of a conditioned mind and need to be addressed if we want to find peace of mind. The problem mainly arises because of the illusion caused by an inflated human ego. This illusion abstracts the reality and does not allow the individual to see the truth.
How to overcome the illusion caused by human ego…
To overcome the illusion, we need to understand that life as a whole contains a cosmic intelligence. A collective consciousness which is always greater than the individual. Through billion years of evolution, this intelligence has created complex organisms. Such as human beings, billion upon trillion of stars and planetary systems and all other specious which we interact with on a daily basis.
The cosmos is so vast that we cannot even begin to comprehend it. In fact, what’s visible to us through our modern technologies and instruments is only 5% of the whole cosmos. But unfortunately, we have come to follow the illusion created by the human ego. We believe that it is possible for a limited human mind to control this cosmic event. Or even change it to our will by having access to more power or wealth.
To live peacefully, one needs to see the bigger picture. Realise the cosmic intelligence with the eye of the heart and not by the intellect.
First, we need to understand that the cosmos we live in, is like a web. Everything is connected and serves a purpose and is absolutely necessary for the whole system to work. From a grain of sand to a giant star – it makes no difference. This is the concept of cosmic unity which I have explained in detail in my book.
Once we realise that everything in the cosmos is one interacting and self-governing system, we can go a step further and understand what seems to be chaotic and out of control from a specific perspective is actually harmonious in another. As an example let us look at human body. At a close perspective, we can see that it contains trillions of cells. These tiny organisms are dying and being renewed at a constant rate. At this level of magnification, it all seems to be very chaotic. But once you zoom out, you see that the body collectively exists in perfect harmony.
Similar to the above, in our everyday lives, we tend to believe that we are living in a chaotic world. Because our intellect is too close to the vent to see the bigger picture. That’s why, we are constantly in a battle with the reality trying to bend it to our will. Because we think by doing so, it possible to avert disastrous situations and be in control of our lives.
Life is a mysterious event…
The reality however, is far from this. Life is a mysterious happening which we are here to experience and not to control. The only control a human being can have is to accept this reality and to overcome the illusion. Accept life for what it is and not what you want it to be. Understand that it is not possible to be selective about our life experiences.
Once you have overcome the illusion, it is possible to realise that living peacefully is a choice. No matter the external circumstances, one has always the choice to remain and live peacefully. We need to allow the cosmic intelligence which has created the world to be in control and define our reality. One needs to see life as a passive observer similar to being in a meditative state and allow it to unfold. By doing so it is possible to live peacefully, transcend the ego self and experience the true unity.
Things will always take care of themselves if you can be brave enough to let go of control. See life as an adventure, a journey and allow it to surprise you. Crying, laughing, illness, happiness and even death, they are all part of the game of life. The less of a resistant you are the more fun life is.
