You shouldn’t take life for granted, learn to enjoy it to the maximum extent and accept the reality.
One of the reasons behind feeling unsatisfied with life is that most people take life for granted. In a modern civilisation, a human being doesn’t have to struggle much for the essential needs. Most of us enjoy living in a relatively comfortable environment more or else, where everything from a hot shower to a nice warm shelter and a mean for transportation are fairly accessible. And don’t get me wrong, this is great, what we have achieved through an organised society is fascinating.
But we take it all for granted. We don’t realise that, those of us who have access to such facilities, even the most basic ones, are among the luckiest who live on this planet. We don’t really come to see that even in 21st century, over 1 billion of the human population live under extreme poverty. On less than $1.25 a day. There is a sense that life owes us. And rather than being grateful we tend to complain and ask for more. More money, more food, more pleasure, etc. We tend to believe that we are not happy because we don’t have enough. We start chasing an illusion and suspend living for a better tomorrow which will never come.
Accept life for what it is…
The key to a fulfilling life however is to accept and appreciate life for what it is. A mysterious event which might end quite suddenly. A human being is not immortal, so consider living each day as there is no other. Enjoy every meal as is the last one, because that may well be the case.
One needs to understand, life is finite and what there is today, may not be tomorrow. They need to be grateful and appreciate every little thing that life has to offer. Being grateful is a choice and indicates that one realises the true value of life and has the power to be happy with what there is and not allow the ego self to dilute the experience. Greed is a characteristic of an egotistical self. Ego is never satisfied and need to be recognised and dealt with as such. There is no other way to happiness.
