Life is difficult. Why my life sucks?

Why my life is so horrible and difficult?

Do you wonder why your life is so damn difficult sometimes? You are not the only one!

During our life time, we all experience difficult periods when we need to overcome the challenges life throws at us. There are periods in our life that nothing goes according to plan. It seems like the whole cosmos is working against us and trying to sabotage our efforts. Sometimes such situations can go on for weeks, months and even years. It can be overwhelming and discouraging and no matter how hard one tries, it doesn’t seem to be a way-out.

Often such situations give the impression that we are the only ones that have to face such difficulties. That life itself has become a constant punishment for us. Perhaps we are paying the price of the past deeds. Some of us trying to ease the pain, find comfort in addictive behaviours or end up with suicidal thoughts in extreme cases. If that’s not the case, what is it then?

Can human intellect explain why life is so difficult?

Frankly, life is too complex for anyone to be able to explain why life can be so difficult at times and why certain situation, similar to what I’ve describe above, maybe happening to an individual. We can only speculate and will never be able to say for sure. But I don’t really think that the reason behind it matters much. The reality remains the same. That life comes with its challenges and that’s how it manages to evolve and create complex beings. As such accepting this reality may help to deal with these difficulties more efficiently. See them for what they are and save yourself from all the pain and suffering. It is just a phase that we go through without any logical explanation

What is the best way to get through the difficult periods?

The best way to approach a difficult period is to see it as a game and understand that each phase has its own set of rules. Rules which are kind of hidden from us at times and there is no manual for them either. It is up to each individual to face the struggle and find a way forward. As Allan Watts used to say: “life is a game of hide and seek”.

Life is a collective set of fascinating and unpredictable moments and experiences. It is easy to take them all for granted. One can easily cling to these ups and downs and forget that it is all temporarily. That every situation will eventually fade and give way to a new one. Someone that is going through the ups, may believe they have managed to figure life out and in contrast, someone else might believe that it’s too much of a struggle. But the reality is that no one can be selective about what life has to offer. We all have to live through the different phases of this existence, poor, rich, young, old, it makes no difference.

Acknowledging a difficult period is the best way forward!

The most important thing however, would be to accept life with all its moments, good and bad. Appreciate whatever comes your way. Perceive it as an adventure, an epic game or a gigantic and marvellous show. There are periods when everything works out and one life is perfect and there are moments when it becomes so bitter that even getting up in morning would be a challenge. One has to understand, it is all part of the plan. There isn’t anything particularly wrong with this, but simply that’s the way life is. We need to accept that it is not possible to have control over our experiences or be selective about them. As a matter of fact, it is way too complex for our intellect to be able to even make sense of it whatsoever. So best, just sit back and enjoy the ride.

When you approach life with an open mind, it is possible to enjoy both the ups and the downs. You’ll be able to see that it is not just a struggle but that’s the way it teaches us to explore this epic experience. Going through life’s challenges, help us to progress and become better. Being it a sad moment or a happy moment, it is all precious.

Give yourself time to figure the way out.

Therefore, rather than getting upset and anxious and losing touch with the reality, try to embrace the difficulties. Take a moment to calm things down and see what is it you need to learn from them. Always remember that life is a game and don’t take it too seriously. Just go through the motions and be patient, it will all make sense at the end and things will always take care of themselves. Any situation will eventually end and gives way to a new one, a new experience. Live your life fully and welcome any challenge with an open mind and heart. It is here to teach you how to play the game, to become better at it and evolve.
